This blog is dedicated to the design and construction of the Chin Clan's new house. I "built" the current house we are in but it is now old, too small for a family of 9 and our need to be closer to Kuching. I hope this blog can be useful to people who want to build their own house. I fervantly believe that buying a house is expensive and gives you limited options. This blog will document all the processes involved to show that it is not as impossible as people think.
Its a great info in your blog. I've learn few tips from your experienced - as I am looking forward for my own house construction very soon. Btw, you did mentioned that cost per sq feet cost at least RM100 (varies by different contractors) - Currently, I am looking for right structural/building contractor, which could meet my expected budget before submitting proposed drawing to architect for authorities approval. Appreciate if you list recommended contractor(s) for structural works (beam/pillar/etc). Thank you in advance for your feedback! Regards.
ReplyDeleteYou dont need to choose a contractor in the early stages. An architect or more likely an experienced draughtsman would be able to conceptualise your ideas and budget and then submit the plans to the council. The structural drawings do not need approval by the council. Once you have the drawings approved, you then select the contractor.
ReplyDeleteYou should decide on the strategy first. Whether you want the contractor to do everything or he takes care of major things while you select the material or sub contractor to take care of other parts eg electrical, flooring etc
